The destruction Berlin suffered during World War II is difficult to imagine today. Allied bombing raids and the Soviet Union Army’s massive ground offensive in 1945 left much of the city in ruins. After decades of reconstruction, followed by the transformation that came with German reunification, Berlin emerged as a vibrant metropolis. Yet it doesn´t attempt to erase its past.
