Mascha Schilinski‘s “Sound of Falling,” which follows the tough lives of four women across the generations on a farm, leads the race for the German Film Awards, also known as the Lolas. The film, which was co-winner of the Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival last year, picked up 11 nominations, including best film, director and screenplay. Ilker Çatak’s “Yellow Letters,” which follows an artist couple facing political repression in Turkey, had nine nominations, again including best film, director and screenplay. “Yellow Letters” won the Golden Bear at the Berlinale. Çatak’s last film, “The Teachers’ Lounge,” was Oscar nominated....
