A unit dedicated to antisemitic hate crimes should be set up to boost prosecutions after figures showed a disparity with anti-Muslim offences, peers have said. Official figures show that hate crimes against Muslims are almost twice as likely to result in prosecution as those against Jews. A proposal put forward by a group of cross-party peers would aim to close the gap by establishing a team in the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) dedicated to supporting the prosecution of offences motivated by antisemitism.
