The memorial ceremony held at Bondi Beach on December 21 for those who were murdered a week earlier was filled with an edgy intensity. It was also the largest gathering of Jews I have ever been in. As I walked through the security guards towards my wife and family in the park above the stage, I saw familiar faces from Sydney's Jewish community.
