An influx of federal and state laws trying to curb hateful rhetoric after a wave of antisemitic attacks are risking free speech and could anger the public, a constitutional law expert has warned. A NSW parliamentary inquiry into right-wing extremism is examining laws proposed by the state Labor government, which would criminalise "imagery and characteristics linked to Nazi ideology".
