Earlier this year, New Jersey appeared poised to take a long overdue step in confronting antisemitism. Legislation to adopt the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance’s, or IHRA's, working definition of antisemitism was scheduled for a vote in the state Assembly, after years of debate and careful revisions. Then, at the last minute, the vote was shelved. For Jewish communities across New Jersey that was a deeply disturbing decision.
