It's understandable that many will view the recent news that the city of Charleston's Human Affairs and Racial Conciliation Commission is being disbanded as a sign that either the city is taking a step backward on civil rights or that reverse discrimination is coming to an end. We hope those with either viewpoint would acknowledge that what's most important is that the leaders of Charleston and other cities govern in a way that is inclusive, even-handed and just.
