The problem with attempting to “intertwine” Black-American and Palestinian history is that they don’t intertwine at all – quite the opposite, in fact. There is, of course, the small matter that Palestinians are not systematically oppressed. The allegation that Israel is an “apartheid” state is also false. But what made Dr King’s work so powerful – and his legacy so potent – was his absolute commitment to non-violent protest.
