Some fifteen years ago David Cameron's Tory party came to power and launched an austerity programme. We had the bedroom tax, which inflicted despair and destitution on many people, pushed out of their homes, with no suitable replacement. Next came Universal Credit, with its six, later reduced to five, week waiting period. How on earth did Mr Cameron and his colleagues think people would live and feed their families in that five week period?
