German police shut down the Oktoberfest fairgrounds, Germany’s largest annual fair, till at least 5 pm local time (1500 GMT) on Wednesday morning after a bomb threat from the suspected perpetrator of an explosion in northern Munich, according to officials. Munich mayor Dieter Reiter asserted that the police will make all efforts to search the grounds. This year’s Oktoberfest kicked off on September 20 and concludes on October 5.
