Built from 1936 to 1945, about 45 intact Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress remain. Today, less than 10 are estimated to still be airworthy. There were 12,731 B-17s produced in total, of which 4,735 were destroyed in action during World War II. Museums primarily house B-17s that are in one piece but incapable of flight. The examples that still soar, like “Ye Olde Pub” of Erickson Aircraft Collection, are often seen at air shows in the United States, Canada, and United Kingdom.
