Employment Minister Jason Clare has denied claims the government is speeding through citizenship ceremonies before the next federal election, with 12,500 people to be granted citizenship in 25 ceremonies by March 4. The Daily Telegraph reported more than 6,000 people alone will be conferred citizenship at Sydney Olympic Park over the next three days, in a move which has angered the city’s mayors who usually play a key role in the ceremonies.
