A 100-year-old World War II veteran will marry his fiancee near the beaches that he first visited as a 20-year-old US Army Air Forces corporal shortly after D-Day. Harold Terens will be honoured in June by the French as part of the 80th anniversary celebration of the country's liberation from the Nazis. Then he plans to marry 96-year-old Jeanne Swerlin in a town near the beaches where the US troops landed. "I love this girl — she is quite special," said Harold, who has been dating Jeanne since 2021.
