Saturday marked the annual commemoration ceremony for people who lost their lives in the Nazi concentration camp in Hinzert near Trier. The event was held at the 'Hinzerter Kräiz' ('Hinzerter Cross') in Luxembourg City. Centre of this year's ceremony was the general strike organised in Luxembourg 80 years ago. At the end of August in 1942, people from across the Grand Duchy went on a strike, which the Nazi occupiers punished by executing 21 Luxembourgers. 20 of them died at the Hinzert concentration camp. An estimated 10,000 people from 20 different countries were imprisoned in Hinzert during World War II....
