I can’t say I understand Daniel Ford’s point when he writes that Stephen Moore’s book “Patton’s Payback” commendably “doesn’t use ‘Nazi’ as a synonym for anything Germanic. The word appears just five times in the book” (Bookshelf, May 11). Pardon me, but I had thought that my late father, along with millions of others, was indeed fighting to defeat Nazism and those Germans who fought under Hitler’s banner.
