The number of police-reported hate crimes rose to a new high in 2020, with Jews continuing to be the most victimized religious group, according to a report released by Statistics Canada March 17. A total of 2,669 incidents were reported in 2020, an increase of 37 percent over the previous year and the largest number since 2009 when this data was available.
