The local elections may still be weeks away but there is a safe bet to be had. The two establishment parties will lose record numbers of seats between them, while the insurgent Greens and Reform UK will win several councils in areas that were previously rock-solid Labour or Conservative. Given one of these parties did not exist a decade ago and the other only recently exceeded fringe party status, this will undoubtedly open the door to some questionable individuals being elected on to councils.
