Robert Bowers is a monster of hatred, violence, and depravity. I can easily understand why a federal jury voted to impose the death penalty upon him Wednesday for murdering 11 people at a Pittsburgh synagogue in 2018. But I still think they made the wrong decision. To see why, consider the fate of Sayfullo Saipov, the only other person whom the federal government has tried to put to death since Joseph R.
